Sungkyunkwan Scandal

Hey Everyone!

I just finished another excellent drama called Sungkyunkwan Scandal. At first, I did not want to start watching a historical period drama, but this one was really worth checking out! It is sort of like the Japanese Hana Kimi, where a girl dresses as a boy to enter an all boys school. However, back in those times, girls were not allowed to enter school at all, and so Kim Yoon Hee enterted the Sungkyunkwan school under her brother's name, so that she could make money and get medical supplies for her sick brother. So, throughout the drama, she pretended to be Kim Yoon Shik. Along the way, she met her two roommates, Lee Sun Joon and Moon Jae Shin (Geol Oh). She met SJ before entering the school, because she used to help students get into the school, by being a substitute exam taker (for money of course). But SJ caught her, and made her enter the school, due to her knowledge and writing ability. She met JS because he saved her, in her girl form when she was about to be robbed once. Somehow, the three ended up being roommates after entering the school. SJ is a Noron, which is the richest of the rich (nobleman), whereas JS was the guy that has been failing his year because he skips classes and is a rebel. There is also Goo Yong Ha, who is the most flamboyant and amusing character, and also JS's best friend since childhood. JS is a Soron, which is still upper class, whereas YH is just a regular middle class person, yet hides that through his dressing and appearance. The drama is very complicated, so I won't really get into the nitty gritty (you can watch it for that!), but the main idea is that YH enters the school disguised as a boy, and soon is acknoledged by everyone because she is well educated, and a caring person. The student body president, hates her and SJ, because he thinks they are know-it-all's that should not get so much attention (also because the woman he loves, falls for YH and his father is always obeying SJ's father as an underling). Either ways, in the end, the king orders the 4 to find a will left by his father. Turns out, YH's father and JS's brother, died protecting it. So, they set off on a mission to find it. In the meantime, SJ struggles with the fact that he is falling in love with a man (haha), and JS (already knowing she is a girl) falls for her as well. But, JS easily gives her up (though so sad! =( I liked him), when he realized that she loved SJ. Through many obstacles, SJ finally finds out that YH is a girl, and falls harder for her. They finally get together, but of course then they get the secret mission. In the meantime, JS is the modern Robin Hood, and there were many times the other three had to protect his identity (so glad he didn't die!). In the end, the even though the king finds the will, he burns it to protect YH's identity, and so, YH continues to live as a man inside the school doors (as a professor now), but married to SJ on the outside. It was a cute ending. I am glad things worked out for them. I definitely give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars. A definite watch, for anyone that loves reverse harems (like me!). There will be another post on JS hehe, because he was just too cute! Look forward to it!

Secret Garden

Hey Everyone!

So, I finished another awesome drama last night! I would have posted last night, as soon as I finished it, but my poor laptop was wheezing again. *sigh*. But anyways, it was a really nice drama! It actually got me to feel that 'butterfly' feeling again for a drama couple! It was so cute. The drama was Secret Garden. It was mainly about Gil Ra Im, a stuntwoman and Kim Joo Won a department store CEO. They live completely different lives, but somehow, due to his cousin (who is a singer, Oska) has to meet RI by accident, thinking she is the actress. JW falls for RI right away, because of her uniqueness. She is not like other girls. She is not rich, but she loves her job as a stuntwoman. Though, other girls dress up and care for their bodies, she is covered in scars. Her boss likes her too. But, in the end, she falls for JW's constant following and advances! There is even a sense of magic, as RI's late father, makes RI and JW swap bodies everytime it rains. It made for a lot of humour. But, near the end, RI actually gets hurt in the making of a movie, and so, JW sacrifices his life and finds rain, so that she can live on as him. But, somehow they switch back because the father thanked them both, and let them live. However, JW loses his memories from the time he was 21, when RI's father saved his life, but died himself (due to this, JW actually became claustrophobic to elevators). Though JW's mother never ended up approving, they got a court marriage done, and they had 3 cute kids. What I really liked about this drama, was that it did not end in a typical, happily ever after manner. It ended with the JW's mom still not accepting, but accepting the kids, and yet the couple loving eachother nonetheless. The ending was cute too, where it showed how JW actually first met RI. It was at her father's funeral, 13 years ago. He was there for her when she was asleep at the funeral hall. It was a great ending. I also liked the other couple and their interactions, where Oska and Yoon Seul had a misunderstanding in the past, but it took them 15 years to finally get engaged and be happy! It just shows, that you can always have a downfall through a misunderstanding, so fix it as soon as you can, or you may never get a chance. Lucky for them, they got another chance. Overall, it was a great drama. I wasn't really inclined to watch it, as I'm not a big fan of fantasy in a drama, but this was really cute! I loved it! I give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars! Definitely a must see, for all you love crazy kids out there! =)... That's it for now.

Yankee-kun to Megane-chan

Hey Everone!

Today, I finished another drama called Yankee-kun to Megane-chan. It was a very funny drama, that helped me through a tough morning yesterday. I realized I lost a friend forever, and it was a little painful for me. Though, I suppose I should live by "whatever is meant to happen, will happen", I guess it still hurt to lose a friend I once considered a close friend. Anyways, watching this drama helped me get away from reality long enough and have some laughs long enough, to cheer me up and think straight. I realized, I should just leave things be, and move on! Today, I finished the drama, and was very happy. This drama was about Shinagawa and Adachi. Shinagawa is current yankee (fights a lot), whereas Adachi is a reformed yankee, and tries to help Shinagawa out. The drama does not have much of love story line, other than hints here and there, such as the Shinagawa-Adachi pair up. But, regardless, it was a great comedy, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it! I wouldn't suggest this drama to those who want a romantic drama, however, it is definitely talking about a lot of troubles teens face as well as how important friends are. It's a very light drama, with common topics on life. I would suggest this drama, only if you want something light to watch in your free time. I give this drama a 4.5 out of 5 stars (since not romantic enough). That's all!

I Really, Really Like You

Hey Everyone!

Just finished a wonderful drama! This one was beginning to upset me, but in the end it was the ending I wanted! The drama was called I Really, Really Like You (Jin Jja Jin Jja Joh Ah Hae). I really enjoyed it. It started off with Yeo Bong Soon (also known as Yeo Yoon Hee) meeting Chang Jon Won in her random forest home. Then Nam Bong Gi arrived because it turned out JW was the president's son and BG is a presidential guard. Though, at first BG did not know who JW was, later he found out after they returned to Seoul. At the beginning, BS is soon as a village girl, who can cook, but has always lived her life with her grandma in the forest area. However, after her grandma passes away, she realizes she does not know what to do. At the same time, the last words her grandma said, was that her mom and dad are still alive and to go find them. For a long time, she thought the president was her father because of a picture taken many years ago with him. However, she fell in love with JW, and when she realized he was the president's son, she freaked out. But, turned out the president found BS when she was baby and raised her for a few years, then left her with the grandma to raise her. Things calmed down, however the issue was that JW was married to a woman that had dementia. As well, BG started falling for BS, but never told her because he did not want to tell her while she loved another man. Though in the end, (thank goodness), she came to her senses when BG almost died and realized that she had feelings for him afterall. JW explained that he felt lost and lonely without his wife, Ji Soo, and to not lose what she's always had. She then realizes her feelings for BG, and soon after, they finally get together. It was such a sweet drama. I had to admit, my favourite part about it, was when BG gave BS a teddy bear that can connect to a cell phone. When on speaker phone, it mouths what is being said. It was the cutest and sweetest thing ever! I'm so glad it was BG that she ended up with, and not JW. It would have been too complicated and BG is sooo sweet! As well, I'm glad that BS was a good chef, but did not get to reach all the way up without learning proper skills. That was a good aspect of the drama as well. So, after saying all this, it is pretty obvious that I give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars! That's it for now!

Mary Stayed Out All Night

Hey Everyone!

Once again, I have finished another drama! This drama was really cute. Definitely not a tear jerker like Baking King, Kim Tak Gu. I don't think I ever really cried for this drama, but I did get teary once in a while. This drama was Mary Stayed Out All Night. It was about a girl named Wi Mae Ri (Mary) and a guy named Kang Moo Kyul. They meet literally due to a car accident, where MR accidentally hits MK. They end up meeting a few times after that by coincidence. MK is a music composer, whereas MR is just a simple girl that happens to have a father that has a lot of debt! MK and MR do not fall in love at first, but through a series of unusual events, such as pretending to be married, since her father and his childhood friend want her to marry the childhood friend's son. There is a lot crazy background to that story, because the childhood friend actually liked MR's mother, and since she has a remarkable resemblance, he wanted her to marry into the family! The two fathers try to force these two together, but MR falls for MK (as does he). They go through many obstacles, but fortunately, in the end, they end up together. Though, it was not a fairy tale ending (i.e. no marriage), but it was more realistic. What I loved about the drama though, was the music! Amazing OSTs indeed! I am off to downloading the songs now. So, overall, I give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars!

Mischievous Kiss

Hey Everyone!

So, finished another new drama! This is my last drama of 2010, and perhaps one of my last for awhile, since I'm going to be quite busy when I get back to school. There are a few dramas I'm interested in after this, but they finish in mid-late January, so I'll wait. For now, here's the plot for Mischievous Kiss. It is a remake of the Japanase Itazura Na Kiss, however the Japanese drama was much older and the anime also came out too. I really liked this rendition, though it was the same plot as the original works. Mainly it is about a cheerful girl named Oh Ha Ni and a jerk (yet genius) guy named Baek Seung Jo. HN loves SJ for 4 years before he finally falls for her. She loves him during high school, and even though he gave back her love letter (with corrections and a grade of D-), fate somehow brought them together in SJ's house after HN's house breaks down after an earthquake. In the meantime, while HN pines after SJ and starts to move his heart, there is Bong Jong Gu, who has been in love with HN for 4 years also, but she never gave him a chance. In the end, HN and SJ go to college, and of course there are more obstacles there. Though SJ's mother always fights for HN, there were many obstacles that were in their way (like a girl in college and JG). Finally, HN and SJ do get married and have a honeymoon at Jeju Island (typical!). It was a cute drama, and showed what I expected of it. I honestly really liked JG's character in this one because of his acting. Of course SJ and HN were great too, but away from the mains, JG did a great job! I give this drama at 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Hotaru no Hikari 2

Hey Everyone!

So, I finished a new drama recently, called Hotaru no Hikari 2. It was a sequel to Hotaru no Hikari from a few years ago. I really liked that drama, so I was excited to watch this sequel to see where things went. The main plot of the first part was a 'himono onna' (girl who wears sweats at home and is lazy and messy, but at work very professionally dressed and hardworking) named Amemiya Hotaru, and how she randomly ends up living with her boss (she calls him Bucho = boss in Jap). It was a cute love story, where they became closer as they got to know eachother under one roof. However, at the end of the first season, she left for Hong Kong for 3 years. In season 2, she returns and the two get engaged. However, there are obstacles, such as the other guy (Osamu Mukai!!!) who falls for her kwirky personality and hardworking self. Though she wavers a bit, she realizes she loves her roommate more! So, in the end, they do get married, and she stays a 'himono onna' even after marriage. Again, very cute, but not as good as the first season (typical conclusion). I give season 2 a 4 out of 5 stars.

King of Baking, Kim Tak Gu

Hey Everyone!

I just finished a really good drama! I admit lately, my life has been filled with dramatic events, but honestly, this drama helped me through it. I really needed a tear jerking drama to help me get away from reality and release my own tears. I've had quite a hard time lately, but things have started to look up since I moved back home. I think being away made me homesick, and that caused me to break down a bit at the end of my work term. It was really hard for me to cry for awhile, but then with this drama being so sad, I finally released those tears that I held back all term. Of course the occurrences in my last week at work aided in real tears as well, but that's another long story. But, all I can say now, is that I am trying to get back to reality, in my own reality back home. Tomorrow is my birthday party with all my friends, and I think I'll finally feel like I'm home again! I've missed my family and friends very much, and I think that's the cure to any of my sadness. But anyways, enough about my dramatic life, back to the drama itself! This drama was called King of Baking, Kim Tak Gu. It was about an affair in a well known family, which led to the demise of Kim Tak Gu. The story revolves around the fact that there were two sons born into the family, however neither were from both the mother and father (both from affairs). Of course, the mistress's son was never welcome into the home, and so through many obstacles, TG was sent away. He lived for 12 years trying to find his mother (who was presumably dead). Finally, he found his way to a bakery, where he learned that he can use his prodigal sense of smell, to his advantage. But of course, as fate would have it, he met his brother Gu Ma Jun there. They competed many times. Even for the girls TG loved, Shin Yu Kyung. I thought all along that TG and YK would end up together, but for once they actually let the good girl get the guy and the lonely boy get the girl. What I mean by that is, that the bakery owner's granddaughter loved TG a lot, and always cared for him from the sidelines, and in the end she got him. As well, MJ, was always struggling with his parentage and all the problems a child can have, along with his ongoing rivalry, but only fell in love with YK. I was at first sad that YK and TG didn't end up together. But, now that I think about it, it was indeed for the better. But anyways, that's just a brief part of the drama. Most of it revolved around the rivalry between brothers (though not blood related) and the struggles one family has to endure to become happy. I really liked this drama (minus the tear jerking moments!). I acting by Eugene in this drama was amazing. I have never seen her in this sort of role. I was impressed! I also liked the plot and how it ended. So, as a result, I have to give this drama a 5 out of 5.

1% of Anything

Hey Everyone!

It has been awhile! I've just been really busy in the new city that I am staying for another 2 weeks. Let's just say, there is a lot of real life drama here! If I ever mentioned that I wanted to live in a drama, well I was wrong! Completely! I will explain my life drama later, but for now, I will talk about the most recent drama that I finally finished, after like 3 months (only last episode was left!)! The drama is called 1% of Anything, and is a really cute drama. I would suggest it for a light hearted romance-comedy for sure! It involves Kim Da Hyun and Lee Jae In, and how JI's grandfather forces the two to meet and eventually get married. It was a very cute story, with many side tales, including her adoptive sister. DH meets JI's grandfather by coincidence on the bus, and treats him with a lot of respect and takes care of him. DH is a very sweet girl with goodr morals. She is a teacher. JI is the manager of his grandfather's hotel. JI's grandfather was so pleased with DH, that he forces DH and JI to meet. DH does not know that the man she helped is JI's grandfather at first, and finds it strange to help JI in this venture, so they (typical) sign a contract, where if JI helps a student study abroad, then she will go out with him to please his grandfather. In the end, they obviously fall in love, and get married (with a few obstacles with her parents). In the meantime, JI's cousin, falls for DH's best friend and adoptive sister. She was adopted into the family because her step father was abusive. Finally, there is a bit of romance seen from DH's brother and JI's sister with JI's best friend. It's all a happy ending, with DH and her best friend both being pregnant. Of course, there were plenty of ups and downs, but in the end, there was a happy ending. A very cute drama for anyone interested in watching something light hearted. It just took me forever to watch the last episode (like 3 months!) because I've been a bit preoccupied in a new city.

I give this drama a 4 out of 5 stars.

Taeyang

Hey Everyone!

It's been awhile! I'm almost done my most recent drama! Can't wait to start Hotaru no Hikari 2! However, recently, I've discovered (well through a friend & co-worker), Taeyang's Wedding Dress. Very sad song, yet the English version is quite a good match for the original I have to admit. I really like the song and music video. It's like a whole drama in a music video. It also has that guy from Creating Destiny (Ryu Sang Wook). Well, it was cute, and I'm still listening to it right now. It was a nice find! Just thought I'd share. (It also helps that he's such a hotty!).
