The Man Who Can't Get Married

Hey Everyone!

Wow, I should soooo be studying right now, yet here I am, just finished another drama! It's okay, I feel confident about the exam, but a little unsure about the presentation that is on Tuesday *sigh*. Anyways, the drama I just finished today is called The Man Who Can't Get Married. Okay, so I was just away sending out an email for my presentation. Very distracting going back and forth from everything. Anyways, I'll have to entertain myself for the next few days without dramas since I need to study and work on my assignment/presentation. So, back on track, the drama is sort of a play off of the 40 Years Old Virgin (though I have not watched this movie yet!). Cho Jae Hee is a 40 years old, well known Architect who has never been in a relationship because he loves being alone, in his own world. He does not like getting close to people or thinking about marriage or having kids (contrary to what his mother thinks). Jang Moon Jung is also into her mid-late 30's (I think) and had a really painful break up in the past, causing her also not to be married. The two meet at the hospital where MJ works, and JH undergoes an embarrassing butt-exposure experience! However, he ends up falling for MJ because she's quick to talk back and him, and she's really pretty too. JH is very socially awkward, so it was very cute to see him in his awkwardness with MJ. They fall for eachother, but JH's recent neighbour (also MJ's friend), Jung Yoo Jin, near the end also falls for JH (though she has a boyfriend, JH's assistant, Park Hyun Kyu - Yoo Ah In!!). JH's colleague also falls for him, but she gave up after realizing that she has no chance. In the end though, YJ gives up on JH because she realizes that MJ and JH really like eachother. Due to JH's awkwardness, there are many instances where he upsets MJ, and they went their separate ways. But in the end, he lost to her, and fell hard for her, and gave in. He even designed their future house in the end! All in all, this drama was very cute and very humorous! A definite watch. I would definitely call this a romantic comedy! I give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars because it made me laugh in practically every episode! That's it for now then.

Kimcheed Radish Cubes

Hey Everyone!

So, I finished another drama just now, called Kimcheed Radish Cubes. I'm not quite sure why it's called this, but it was a nice (shorter than usual) family drama. It was very dramatic in its content, but I loved the family aspect of this drama. I primarily started watching it because Park Shin Hye (You're Beautiful) was in it, but turned out so was Lee Min Jung (Smine, You). I love dramas with Lee Min Jung because she's so bubbly, like in Smile, You. Anyways, this drama had three main families. Jang Sa Ya lived in a temple all her life, till she finally decided to go find her father after meeting Park Jae Woo. When she found her father at last, it turned out that he was ill (pretty much death bed). Before he died, her mother appeared and she was able to live with her because she felt indebted to SY's grandmother (who took her in), yet did not know SY is her daughter. Long ago, SY's mom loved SY's dad, but then suddenly (still not sure why or how) SY's dad married JW's mom. After that, both SY's mom and JW's mom had daughters, SY's grandmother lied to SY's mom and said her daughter died, in reality it was JW's mom's daughter. In spite, JW's mom told SY's grandmother to throw away the child (SY) and she left with all their money. In the present time, JW's mom is the owner of one of the best hotels around since she used the money to build her empire. However, JW and SY fall in love. This stirs up trouble, because not too long after, the truth starts to unveil. In the meantime, SY's mom has a family already, with two step-sons and one son. The eldest son, Jung Dong Jin, got divorced and has a little daughter Ha Som. He falls in love with Eun Ho (widow). However, Ji Hye (HS's mom) returns and stirs trouble (typical) between EH and DJ. Also, Jung Dong Shik falls for SY while SY lives with them, as does Lee Min Do for JW. They give up their love when they realize how much SY and JW love eachother. MD and DS were actually really good friends for years. The three families were connected because let's make a chart: DJ loves EH, EH is MD's sister-in-law, MD is JW's sister-in-law (since her brother married JW's sister). So, there is all these random connections between all three families. Either ways, in the end, though JW's mother tried to stop JW and SY from being together, in the end, she ended up being mugged and having a brain injury while trying to get away from her children (way she wanted to repent). DJ and EH get married, and HS still visited her mom once in a while. DS and MD get married and they live with MD's family while owning a restaurant (before was the hotel flower shop). Finally, JW and SY are married, however, though JW's mother woke up, she is now child-like, and cannot really recognize anyone other than SY. The drama ended with DJ's grandfather's birthday, and all the kids coming over. It was a really nice ending. I give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars because they made it realistic in the end. As in, JW's mother didn't just miraculously come out of her coma in a normal state. I think in real life, it's highly unlikely. So, overall, though it was 44 episodes long, it was not too melodramatic. I really liked this drama, where the suspense killed me enough, that I had to check the last episode to see who SY's mother was and who she ended up with! Definitely recommended if you have the time to watch it. That's all for now.

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho

Hey Everyone!

Been a few days, because I was busy catching up on school work, and at the same time I was watching this new drama called My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. At first, I really did not want to watch it because it's too fanatsy for me, but it was a really cute story. The actress was a total cutey too! Very likeable. Anyways, the story is about a gumiho (nine-tailed fox) that was trapped in a painting for 500 years because she could not find a mate in the past. However, when Cha Dae Woong, accidentally ends up at the temple where she is being held captive, and lets her out, out of fear that there's a ghost or something. She tells him to draw 9 tails on the fox in the drawing, and she was released! He then falls down a hill because he's scared of what he has just done, and the gumiho gives him her bead (soul/life force) so he can heal faster. During this time, she follows him around, until she can get her bead back. However, he doesn't realize she's gumiho until they are back in Seoul. So, for fear of her eating his liver (a myth that started in the past about her), he obeyed her wishes, such as eating meat ALL the time. In the meantime, Park Dong Ju, a half-human, half-not, tries at first to get rid of MH, but turns out that she resembles (and later find out the bead belonged to her too) his old love from many years ago! He then tells MH that she can be human if she harbours her bead in DW for 100 days. But, he left out the fact that if she takes the bead back, DW will die, and if she doesn't take it back, she will die. DW and MH both agree to keep the bead in DW because he was starting to film a movie, and his old wounds were hindering him. So, in the end, throughout the duration of their 100 days (first 50), they fall in love. DW was not always for it, but he eventually lost to her persistence and kindness. But, when MH and DW find out the ill fate ahead of them, DW gives back the bead on the 50th day. He faints, but nothing really happens to him, but MH was still losing her tails, meaning she would still die on the 100th day. So, to protect her, and keep her from wanting to be human for DW, DW broke up with her. A month later, when he returns, he finds out that she is still losing her tails, meaning an inevitable death. No matter how hard DJ tried, she still would not give up wanting to be human. Finally, DJ realizes how much DW and MH love eachother, and just gave up, and let them be together for her remaining days. Though, in the end, the Three God Mother (?) allowed MH to return even after she disappeared on the 100th day, on an eclipse day (when the moon meets the sun) because she had promised MH many years ago, that if she meets a man that will love her enough to die for her, she will let her live with humans. So, in the end, a few years later, MH does return, and they live together (though with one tail still). So, though I really liked this drama, and loved the actors (DJ's actor was wayyy cute!), I still give this drama a 4.5 out of 5 stars because of the fact that she did not become human in the end. I mean, it will be too hard to live a life with a human if she is not one herself. Though, this time, her tail was not blue, and was white, so it could have been DW's dog? Not quite sure, but regardless, hopefully she still lives a regular human life with DW. I'll stick to my rating just because of the confusion about the ending. That's it for now.

Beauty and the Briefcase

Hey everyone!

So, I finished watching another movie today called Beauty and the Briefcase. I'll have to make this quick as I have to go work on my assignment now, but basically, this movie was about a writter, who wanted to be published in Cosmo Magazine, but only could do so if she wrote a story about meeting a man in a "suit". So, she started working for a business company (by lying about her qualifications), and then realized there are a lot of hot guys that work at these corporations. However, she found her "Mr. Right" at a bar while out with a friend. So, she was in a struggle to choose between her article or that guy. In the end though, she realized her "Mr. Right" was very wrong, because he turned out to be a liar (e.g. he lied about his job, etc. to get laid). So, in the end, she lost out on her article and guy. But in reality, it turned out, she and her boss actually fell for eachother, yet he got 0/10 on her check list for a guy. So, finally, she got her cover piece on the magazine, and met the love of her life (he was always right there, she just didn't realize it). So, the moral of the story was, that you should not try to find "Mr. Perfect", you should just open up to finding love anywhere! You never know when it'll happen. I have to agree, it happened to me too. I chased after love for a long time, just when I thought I would stop, I randomly found the guy of my dreams. He was someone I knew nothing about, yet he just came into my life, just like that! I am now very happy and lucky to have him in my life! See, you never know when Mr. Right will come by. So ladies, open your hearts and don't be stuck on some ideal! Good luck! That's it for now. Off I go to work on my assignment. Look forward to hearing from me later this week about another drama I will be starting tomorrow. I give this movie a 4.5 out of 5 stars, only because though there was lead up to the pair up at the end, it was too quick.

Wild Child

Hey Everyone!

So, no drama in my life as usual (YAY!). I love this drama-free life. If you ever watch dramas and feel like "boy I wish I could live in a drama world", well don't! Once you witness that drama, you really don't want to go there again! It's just too much of a hassle to deal with all that dramatic business. I mean, I've had my whole life's worth at my work placement a few months ago, and I am very happy to be home! It was too much for me to handle, all the lies and drama going on in everyone's lives! It was so unnecessary! I mean really, can't we just live a simple life, without having to worry about who is lying to you all the time, or who is talking behind your back, or who is your ally? I mean, c'mon! I really like it at home, where I have my best friends and wonderful boyfriend, and caring family, that's all I really need in life! Anyways, that was way too much information about my life, now then, the most recent movie I just finished watching was called Wild Child. It was an English film (literally, British English hehe). It was a cute little movie about a girl that is a trouble maker, so her father sends her off to England to a boarding school. There she keeps attempting to get expelled so she can go back to her old life, but in reality, when she finally did something (or rather didn't do) to cause her expulsion, ironically, that's when she actually wanted to stay. She made lots of friends, she found a boy she really liked, and to top it off, that's the school her late mother went to! So, in the end, she ended up staying, and her friends went to visit her in L.A. It was all in all a cute movie. I give this movie a 4.5 out of 5 stars because the plot was very predictable. That's it for now. Off I go to do some school work before heading out to go skating with my brother. Take care all.

Romantic Island

Hey Everyone!

So, this is the movie I actually watched today, and finished just recently called Romantic Island. Again, a movie with Eugene in it. She looked really great in the bikini scene! Wow. Anyways, this movie was about three different pairs of people, with their own storylines, yet all three pairs went to the Philippines for a vacation for various reasons. Soo Jin goes because she needs to get away from reality of her current situation. Jae Hyuk goes because he recently found out his father passed away there. Ga Young is a singer, who needed to get away from her stressful work schedule. Jung Hwan just needed to get away from his reality as well between jobs. Joong Sik and Yoon Suk (married couple) go because JS decides after hearing of a brain tumour, that he needs to kill himself in order to leave money for his family. SJ and JH meet coincidentally in a hotel lobby, and end up falling for eachother due to SJ's bubbly personality that uplifts JH's sullen personality. GY meets JH by coincidence at the airport, and he ends up being her servent because she is there alone for the first time and not used to doing things for herself (he helps because he's a nice guy, and wow celeb!). They end up having a great time together, and end up having sex even after a drunken night! However, since JH recently got out of a relationship, he was unsure how to react to his new venture (plus she's celeb!), so he makes GY feel like he is rebounding with her, so she leaves him. SJ also tells JH to go back to Korea without her, because this was her attempt to get away from reality and to run away. In the meantime, JS hires an assasian to kill him, however changes his mind when his wife decides to have a wedding ceremony for them (they never got a chance to have a real wedding), and she said she wants him to live and do the operation because she and their daughter cannot live without him. Though, JS tries to stop the assasian, in the end it was not possible, and coincidentally all three men's pictures were given to the child (that's right). The child did find the right guy in the end, and ended up not shooting anyone since it's New Years eve (lucky!). Anyways, when back in Korea, it is seen that JS has his operation successfully, and they are happy together as a family. GY goes to find JH after a successful song debut (a year later). Finally, SJ sends JH the pictures from her trip indicating that she's returned from her trip and that he can come find her now. The movies ends with the two of them finally meeting again, and recalling a kiss shared on a boat. JH's speech at the end was too cute! Watch it and you'll smile for sure (afterall it is Lee Seon Gyun!). So yes, overall, mainly just for having Eugene and the cutest ending, I give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars as well! That's it for today.

Heartbreak Library

Hey Everyone!

So, I watched a movie yesterday, but was too tired to post anything (honestly, I forgot to post something hehe!). Anyways, it was called Heartbreak Library. Honestly, I mainly watched it because I have a lot assignments due soon, and I just needed to stop watching dramas for a few days (till Wednesday!). Also, because Eugene is in it! I think she is just awesome all around! So yeah, this movie is mainly about Eun Soo and Jun Oh. ES is a librarian and often sees JO tearing out pages from books. One day, she catches him, and finds out his reason for tearing these pages. It turns out that he only tears out page 198, because his late girlfriend (ES doesn't know she passed away), told him that there is a message in a book she read on page 198, that expresses her feelings for him. Since she thought this was a nice story, she decided to help him locate the book (though wow, throug like 967 books - that's dedication!). It turned out that she mentioned that they had met at sunset at this pier type of place. He soon went there, and realized the meaning was also that it occured at 19:08 (showing sunset). Lucky for him, it was one year ago, so he went to the same place and time (though a rainstorm). ES later finally finds out that he went through post-traumatic stress disorder after the death of his girlfriend, and was finally getting back to normal because of her help to find out details about that girl. They go through a few adventures, and then finally ES realizes she likes JO, but that's when she finds out about the death. So, JO goes off to Japan to learn to make sushi and when he returns, they finally get together. It was a cute movie, and I liked it. I also realized how Korean movies are really long! But regardless, cute storyline, and the ending was quite realistic, since he went away and wasn't just having a rebound scenario (same with her, since she recently had broken up with her boyfriend). Before they got together, they resolved all their previous relationships. So, I give this movie a 5 out of 5 stars because of realistic-ness and sensitive storyline.

I Am Legend

Hey Everyone!

So, I just finished another really good drama! Though, I did not like the vagueness of the ending for the romance element, the main idea behind the drama, of independence, was well portrayed even till the end. Anyways, so this drama was called I Am Legend. It was mainly about Jun Seol Hee and her struggle to get a divorce from her husband, as well as trying to make something of her 'ajhumma band'. Her husband, Cha Ji Wook, is a big-shot lawyer, so it was very difficult for her to finally get her divorce, however throughout the proceedings, Jang Tae Hyun and her band mates helped her. Though, in the end she got the proof of JW cheating, she chose not to take revenge, and ended up getting her divorce and freedom from the demanding family. Initially she started this battle because the family wouldn't let her give up her bone marrow since she was in the middle of fertility treatment (she was only able to marry into the 'rich' family since she was pregnant, but ended up having a miscarriage, and then her husband became distant). In the end, she wanted it for herself too, for her own humility and independence. It was a very good drama about women's lives in their 30's, and how they faced their hardships and left their reality by their music. After the divorce was finalized, SH became closer to TH, but there was no real ending for them (they did confess their feelings though, but she gave up on it since he would lose his son to his ex-wife if he persued a relationship with SH or anyone). In anycase, there was some romance in this drama, and twisted fate, since it was SH's husband and TH's ex-wife that ended up having an affair. How twisted is that? In the end though, JW broke up with TH's ex-wife and realized he cared about SH afterall, but by this point, she was over him (no, he did not do anything crazy to get in SH and TH's way, in fact, he was very kind and helped her out during another trial later on). Anyways, regardless of the lack of romance, it was a very good drama, which showed that you can make it big even in your 30's (as an ajhumma). I liked the focus on the main character and the character development into independence. I also, really liked the music from th "Comeback Madonna" band. I've downloaded it already! Anyways, I give this drama a 4.5 out of 5 stars just because of the lack of closure in the end for SH and TH.
