Midas

Hey Everyone!

When I returned from my NY trip I started watching a new drama that I had been waiting to watch for a long time, Midas. It was a really interesting drama indeed! I liked it because it was not your typical love story, where it is only about the chaos between a man and woman and all the crazy love affairs and all of that sort of thing. This drama was more centered upon the stock market and mergers and acquisitions of companies. I am not familiar with this subject, and was pleasantly surprised to find it quite interesting to learn more about. The drama was about Kim Do Hyun and his struggle with realizing how scary money is. He used to work in the stock market, however after an incident with a politician, he had to pursue a career in law. During all of that, he fell in love with Lee Jung Yeon and was to marry her. However, soon, he received an offer to work as a Partner in a law firm right away, because it would be helping the Yoo family, by helping rescue them from all their media attention. He indeed did start working their as their lawyer, but soon he met with his idol, Yoo In Hye. She was well known in Wall Street and soon had started working in Lone Asia in Korea. Their job was to buy and sell companies. Anyways, the Yoo family had been undergoing decision for the next heir, and DH had to help settle things. IH wanted to be the next heir, but knew it would be difficult since she was a woman and not the eldest child. Not only that, but her mother had left her father because she fell in love with someone else in the past. So, IH was again love and put her whole life into her career and making money. She entrusted DH to help get her the title of heir, so that she could use the money for her company and other acquisitions. Like IH, DH was also attracted by money and the intriguing offer IH gave him. He then became her "monkey". In the meantime, JY and DH could not get married because someone tried to kill him in a car accident the day of their wedding. After that, JY left DH since he was becoming too money crazed. At that point, DH devoted all his time to IH and her cause and was sent abroad to train, whereas JY met IH's brother, Yoo Myung Joon, who fell in love with her. At first JY did not give him the time of day, however when JY found out that MJ was dying of a deadly cancer (pancreas), she became his private nurse and took care of him. They helped each other, where JY was saddened and angered by DH, and MJ needed company in his last years of life (especially since he fell for her). However, soon after an attempt at acquiring a bank, IH betrayed DH and sent him to jail. In jail, DH decided he wanted revenge on IH and so plotted with an inmate. When out of jail, he decided to start his revenge, and IH had no idea at first. Soon, DH and JY got back together, and he continued his revenge plot against IH. In the end, DH got his revenge, but ended up working with IH to get rid of her ex-boss, James. He was the one that killed two people in the past, and attempted to kill DH on his wedding day. They worked together one last time and got rid of him for good. Finally, DH was free of all the crazy money business and IH was free of her old boss. DH married JY (I think) and IH went back to Lone Asia (now Co-rising). Only sad part is that MJ did die in the end, however he asked DH and JY to forgive his sister, since she was just lonely. Things otherwise, turned out fine. So, overall, this was a great drama, and one I would definitely recommend to anyone that is interested in watching something interesting and learning something new. I learned a lot of interesting aspects of the stock world, and I think everyone should realize the craziness of that world. I give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars for being different than all other dramas I have watched in the past. That's all for now.

I'm off,

- B
