Smile, You

Hey Everyone!

I just finished another awesome drama called Smile, You. At first I was a little hesitant to watch it, because it was 45 episodes long, but wow, it was worth it! I admit, it does start off a bit slow, and for some reason even though on dramawiki it states the genre as romance, comedy, and family, I thought it would be dramatic as well. By no means is this a completely funny drama, as there was a lot of sadness throughout the drama (especially near the end). However, what was good about it, is that, there was no crazy drama like Shining Inheritance. Indeed, there were slight villans, but if you watch it you'll see why they were not total villans afterall (perhaps you can relate?). Anyways, this drama was mainly about how Kang Hyun Soo and Seo Jung In meet through fate due to their families; through HS's grandfather Kang Man Bok. HS and JI meet in the most unusual way, where JI has been abandoned after her wedding (in her wedding dress on the side of the street) and HS is returning from abroad, only to meet this unusual woman on his journey home! Later, we realize that MB is JI's chauffer, and so their families are bound by fate, since they end up having to live with eachother (JI's father's company went bankrupt, and MB owes the late chairman; JI's grandfather). The most amusing thing is that HS has been madly in love with JI's older sister for the past 8 years! However, she had no interest in him. However, when JI and HS start to become closer (due to many, many interactions), JI's sister realizes that she has fallen for HS. However, she is not the main obstacle in this pair's relationship, since JI's ex-husband is still after JI! There are many hilarious scenes and interactions between all the members of the family. There is so many side stories, including the fact the HS's father's first love was JI's mother! Also, JI's older brother falls for a girl that coincidentally comes to the house (3 stars hahaha). This whole show was mainly about the struggles that two families go through to find themselves. It is about MB's family, and how he changes JI's father into a human being (not a money loving machine). There is a LOT of character development in this drama! I totally loved it! I laughed histerically and shed many tears! I definitely recommend this drama, for anyone that is a sucker for family dramas with sweet romances and comedy.

I give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars!

Oh! My Lady

Hey Everyone!

So, I finally finished my final exams yesterday! Right away, guess what I did? Obviously! I started a new k-drama! I just finished watching it. It was called Oh! My Lady. It was quite good. Although it starts off a little slow, it was still good. It was about Gae Hwa and Min Woo. GH is a typical house wife, until she divorces her husband because he was cheating on her. They have a child together, named Min Ji. MW is a famous TV star, that not only acts, but sings as well. GH and MW meet coincidentally, as GH gets to be his maid for a day. Later, they continue to meet, as GH becomes an team leader at a company that produces musicals. Soon, Ye Eun arrives! YE is MW's daughter! This is what starts the whole MW and GH plot, as GH blackmails MW, by offering to take care of YE, if MW works in the next musical. The drama shows a series of events, where MW and GH must keep the secret from everyone, especially a pesky reporter on MW's chase. This is a definite romance, comedy! I personally found GH's ex to be the funniest! MW's somewhat gf, was really pretty though. I did not like her purple lipstick, but otherwise, she was really cute. There is not a lot of drama, in terms of, fighting for the guy or girl due to some love triangle, but rather, it revolves more around the main two characters. There is one other plot, which involves a breaking relationship for GH's boss. That plot was a bit more serious and dramatic, however, still it was nothing tear worthy! I don't think I cried once in this drama, but, I definitely laughed! It is a very cute drama, and I would definitely recommend it. In fact, while watching the drama, I was eating a sweet potato! It totally reminded me of My Girl! I definitely would love to buy the sweet potatoes from the street vendors, just for the experience. But, still, I enjoyed watching a k-drama, eating k-style food!

I give this drama a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Install

Hey Everyone!

Wow, so today I killed some time watching a movie called "Install". That was... interesting. Definitely not a movie for anyone under the age of 18. It's not necessarily R-rated or anything (as in, no nudity or crude words), but the topics covered are a bit vulgar. Also, the fact that it is about relatively young kids, is a bit disturbing to me. Anyways, I'm sure you're very curious now as to what it is about! Well, basically it's about a 10 years old boy (actually not even 10 yet) and a 17 years old girl who team up and join a "cyber-sex" site. That's right, "cyber-sex" site. What's amusing/disturbing, is that, it was the 10 years old boy that introduced the site to the girl. What was more disturbing was the odd fetishes that people in the cyber-sex world have! Wow, it exposed many really odd fetishes! It was extra awkward to find out about them through a 17 years old (let alone at 10 years old). Not only did it have odd material such as that, but it also encompassed some really psychological stuff, such as suicide. It definitely left me thinking, in a very disturbed state. I am going to be as objective as I can, because this is definitely not your typical romance/comedy type of movie, nor is it completely depressive. It was all-in-all weird! But, for that genre, I have to give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars. But, personally, for those romance lovers out there, this is NOT for you! I would definitely tell you to avoid watching this movie. I had to forward a lot of filler scenes too. It was very awkward and mind-puzzling. So, from me, I give it a 2 out of 5 stars. Watch at your own risk.

Got a job offer!

Hey Everyone!

Not only did I eat my first onigiri today, but I also got a job offer today! I had the telephone interview this morning, and go the job this afternoon! This means I have to be away from home for 4 months! Now, not only is my brother going away for school, but now I'm going away for work! Not really looking forward to being away from home, but still I am looking forward to being independent for a while! Let's see how things go! That's all for now.

Onigiri

Hey Everyone!

I just had my first onigiri today (see image)! Next, I'm hoping to make an onigiri at home. It was kind of tangy and fishy. When I make it, I'm hoping to make it without the salmon. Can't wait! That's my Jap culinary experience for this week! Next Monday, I'm going to the Jap buffet again! =D That's it for now.

I Give My First Love to You

Hey Everyone!

So, I just finished a Japanese movie called I Give My First Love to You. It was a bittersweet story, which involves a boy and girl who fall in love at the tender age of 8. However, the boy has a heart condition that will cause him to die before he is 20 (unless he gets a heart transplant). The boy and the girl grow up together, and end up staying together till about 16 years of age. At that point, even through all their obstacles, they still stay together till the day he passes away. Lucky for them, they were able to have one last day together, and in the end, she does marry him (although a little creepy, that she marries his cremated self). It was a sweet love story, but a warning for sure is that this is a definite tear jerker! So, watch at your own caution.

I give this movie at 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Creating Destiny...

Hey Everyone!

I just finished watching a really sweet, family & romance drama called Creating Destiny. I'm not quite sure why it has such a low rating, but in my opinion, it was really good! It was about Sang Eun and Yeo Joon, who were forced to get together by their respective families. SE grew up in Australia with her father, grandfather, and little sister; Hyo Eun. Whereas, YJ grew up with his older sister Yoon Hee, parents, and grandmother. SE's mother passed away when she was young, and because SE was adopted (which we don't find out about till near the end of the drama), the family moved to Australia. Both of their fathers were very close friends, and wanted to become one big family, so they tried to force SE and YJ together in Korea. At first, SE and YJ argued like crazy! They seemed to almost hate eachother, however, somehow learned to fall in love with eachother, once they opened their hearts to one another. However, both of them were waiting for someone else (also others liked them!) so that made some complications in the plot. On the other hand, YJ's sister, YH, was abandoned when she was pregnant with her little daugher Jin Ju. However, her lover returned, and had to prove himself before he was allowed to marry YH. In the meantime however, another guy (who was with YH for the 6 years, also YJ's best friend) was in love with YH as well, yet his mother forbade him from doing so! Regardless, in the end YH ended up with her ex-lover, and they lived as a happy family. Almost everyone paired up, including YJ and SE (obviously, got married and was pregnant at the end!), YH and her ex-lover, HY and YJ's co-worker, and even the two that liked YJ and SE ended up together somehow! I felt the worst for the guy that liked YH, because he truly loved her, yet never had a chance! I wish he ended up with someone too! I feel sooo bad for him. He was so cute too (LOVED HIS TEETH!). Oh well, can't have it all! Either ways, it was a very touching story about two main families, and their struggles to deal with everyday situations. Some drama, but a lot more family drama/comedy type of situations. I thoroughly enjoyed this drama, and hope everyone watches it!

I give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars!

Re: Korean Food

Hey Everyone!

So, when I went to go pick up my brother from the airport on Monday, I went to that Korean food vendor again! This time I tried the fish sticks too. It was OKAY. But, I still love the spicy rice sticks and the red bean waffles. Now, I'm uploading the image too! It's awesome! Love it! =D

Stars Falling from the Sky

Hey Everyone!

So, I finished another drama today! I had to wait 3 days to watch the last 3 episodes, AND the last episode was only on viikii so I had to use my parents' computer! However, it was all worth it! The drama is called Stars Falling from the Sky and it was about Pal Kang and Kang Ha. Mainly, the drama starts off with us seeing PK with her unusual family of 7. Her father is a doctor, and mother is a homemaker (I think), yet they adopted 5 kids (all have names of colours in Korean, like Pal = red). Anyways, basically, PK was in love with KH (a moody and rude lawyer) for 5 years. She finally got a chance to live with him as a maid, yet unfortunately fate caused a lot of troubles for PK. Her parents died in a car accident (because PK's aunt wanted the project that he was going to give to PK's dad for herself). Basically, a lot of jealousy and selfishness caused PK's parents to die. However, before they died, they told PK's grandfather, that he has an heir alive (a cryptic message, that did not say it was PK directly). Anyways, in the meantime, PK was left to raise her 5 siblings all alone. So, she gave up her materialistic ways, and became a 'mother' character. She became a maid at KH's house, and made all three guys (KH, his younger brother, and nephew) fall in love with her. However, there was Jae Young and Joon Ha around. JY was madly in love with KH, and JH loved JY. However, after a lot of events, JH fell for PK as well, and JY blackmailed KH to marry her. In the end though, the youngest sibling fell ill, and JY finally realized that KH was marrying her only to protect his brother (from finding out that they had different mothers, yet JH already knew!). In the end, KH finally gave in to his feelings for PK, and they literally lived happily ever after. The last two episodes was a bit rushed, because there was no resolution with JY's mother (did she kill herself or not?). Otherwise, it was quite a touching story about a girl who had to go through a lot of obstacles to get to her final destination. The character development in the drama was great, because the moody and rude lawyer became softer, and the materialistic girl became motherly and selfless. It was definitely worth watching! Also, a very cute kiss in the last episode!

I give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars!

Cinderella's Sister

Hey Everyone!

So, I just finished (well last night) another drama called Cinderella's Sister. Wow, what an intense drama that was! It's basically a twist in the classic tale of "Cinderella" with a theme of revenge! I'm not really into this sort drama, but I was sucked into it because of the main character developments. The story is about two girls, one named Eun Jo and the other Hyo Sun. Of course, there was a guy named Ki Hoon that adds to the plot (main for me!). So, EJ's mother enter's HS's family as the new wife. EJ is a very dark character because of her mother's past relationships. She is very dark and pessimistic. She seemed to hate HS because of her cheerful (yet annoying!) personality. However, she lucks out and meets KH, who I suppose you could say, saves her from her darkness. He's only staying with HS's family because he has issues of his own with his family (he's the son of a mistress!). Of course, HS is madly in love with KH, yet he has a serious facination with EJ (since they are similar and can understand eachother), and only sees HS as a little sister. One day, when KH leaves for the army training, he leaves a note for EJ, however he left it with HS, who never gave it to her (some Cinderella she is!). After many years, KH does return, and EJ is very broken after that incident (since she thought that she was abandoned!). Later on, many incidents occur involving KH's family and HS's family businesses, and as a result HS's dad dies. EJ believed that she was the cause (due to a business deal), yet really it was KH (since he was overheard talking to this brother on the phone about betraying HS's dad). KH tried to get forgiveness by vowing to protect the two sisters, and attempting to let go of his feelings for EJ. However, after many obstacles, he finally got to confess to EJ, and she finally did in return (during a majority of the series, she tried to deny her feelings because of her guilt towards HS, and so decided to give up KH). In the end, HS allows the two to be together, and EJ finally admits her feelings. It is quite a cute happy ending. However, there were soooo many instances that I cried! Wow, very intense indeed! I would not recommend this drama to anyone that dislikes dramatic drama's. This was beyond dramatic! I left out quite a bit of the intense relationship between the two sisters and their relationship with their parents. I think I would suggest against this drama, unless you can emotionally handle it!

I give this drama a 4 out of 5 stars.
